The Supplicants

Long the line of supplicants

Before the tyrant king,

Begging for the favour

Of kissing hand and ring,

While round the throne

Attendants stand,

Silent, severe, serene,

Who truly rule the land

But speak only to them selves,

Gathering in secret,

To dangle puppets from their strings;

It’s all a vast confusion,

An illusory, shadowed world,

You and I forever lost, not knowing what to do,

What is right or what is wrong,

And right and wrong for who.

    Hi Chris, nice to see you again after such a long time. Sorry to hear that your planned novel was too farsighted! I’ve just registered with Felicity for the next meeting on 11 Dec, although I’ll just be audience (not into writing Xmas stories). But it’s going to be my last meeting until April. I’m off to LA in January. Keep up the classical guitar playing– maybe something for the arts festival? Erika ________________________________

      Hi Erika, it was very good to see you there too. Yes, I’m frustrated by the turn of events not only becuase of what its done to life for all of us but to my attempted novel. I quite liked what i had written so far. I’ll have to turn my mind to another project. I wrote a follow up to my short play Love On A Park Bench, you can find it here if you scroll down the page, I titled it Another Brief Encounter, both are about relationships between people, love, disappointment etc, and I want to do a third to make it a 45 minute trilogy. I am working on the third. I may try a play for the festival, As for guitar, I play classical or try to -very diffficult but gives me something to w
      ork on and study and I enjoy it, and also studying flamenco, which of course has very different feeling -I’ll only ever be an amateur, but as I say gives me something artistic to work on aside from writing. I’ll be at the meeting unless cases keep zooming up-then I may consider it too risky. But let’s stay in touch. Am interested in what you write. My email for future reference is bar@idirect.com.
